Yield of a Tube well, Unconfined Aquifer and Confined Aquifer
Yield of a Tube well
A tube well can delivered water from the following
aquifers:
1. Tube well in an Unconfined Aquifer
2. Tube well in a Confined Aquifer
- Unconfined Aquifer
When the underground water table exist within the
pervious strata above first impervious strata then it is
called an unconfined aquifer. No impervious strata
lies above the pervious strata. This aquifer is directly
accessible to the atmosphere.
The yield of the tube well is given by following formula
K = Coefficient of permeability
Z1 = Depth of water or aquifer below water table before pumping
Z2 = Depth of water in the tube well after pumping
r1 = Radius of influence before pumping
r2 = Radius of influence after pumping
Confined Aquifer
It is a completely saturated aquifer which is
underlain and overlain by impervious layers. The pressure of water is higher than that of atmosphere. It is also known as artesian aquifer.
