TYPES OF FLUIDS
TYPES OF FLUIDS
1. Ideal fluids.
2. Real fluids.
3. Newtonian Fluids.
4. Non- Newtonian fluids.
5. Ideal plastic fluids.
1. Ideal fluids:
A fluid which is in compressible and is having no viscosity, is called as ideal fluids. Ideal fluids is only an imaginary fluid as all the fluids,
which exists, have some viscosity.
2. Real fluids:
A fluid which possess viscosity, is called as real fluids. All the fluids, in actual practice, are real fluids.
3. Newtonian Fluids:
A real fluid, in which the shear stress (Ꞇ ) is directly proportional to the rate of shear strain (or velocity gradient), is known as Newtonian Fluids.
4. Non- Newtonian fluids:
A real fluid, in which the shear stress (Ꞇ) is not directly proportional to the rate of shear strain (or velocity gradient), is known as Non -Newtonian Fluids.
5. Ideal plastic fluids:
A fluid in which shear stress (Ꞇ ) is more than the yield value and
shear stress (Ꞇ ) is proportional to the rate of shear strain (or velocity gradient), is known as Ideal plastic fluids.
